What is LED Emitting Color

LED raw material and fabrication techniques have a great effect on LED emitting color and conversion efficiency. Four types of LED emitting colors are widely applied in LED lighting: red emitting color, green emitting color, blue emitting color and white emitting color.

Different raw material and components can produce various photons, which generates different wavelength that determines the LED color. P-zone and N-zone is made up of two different raw materials that bear subtle differences. PN-zone is the area that can emit light.

The first LED was made up of GaA(gallium arsenide), voltage downgrade of which is 1.424V and light color is infrared spectroscopy. Another type of LED was made up of GaP(gallium phoshpide) and voltage downgrade of which is 2.261V ; LED color is green light. Theoretically, LED color can vary from infrared light to green light. That voltage downgrade is the determiner ascertains the light wavelength and LED color. In the manufacturing process, three chemical elements Ga(gallium), P(phosphorus), A(arsenide) are adopted, so we call it tri color led.

While the blue LED( consisting of GaN), green LED(consisting of GaP) and infrared LED(consisting of GaAs) were regarded as dual color led.. The newest LED technology can make multi color LED come true.

Currently according to diverse wavelengths, LED light colors vary in disparate ranks: purplish red, pure red, orange, yellow, green, blue, etc. In terms of RGB 3-element color principle, the maximum expected brightness value and white balance were adjusted by LED current. For example, white emitting color is mixed by green with 69% brightness value, blue with 10% brightness value,and red with 21% brightness value; among which green takes the greatest amount of brightness value.
