United Arab Emirates Ban Inefficient Lamps and Advocate LED New Source of Energy

United Arab Emirates will ban inefficient lamps on July 1st 2014. The ban against low efficient lamps will reduce 106.8 million pound energy cost.

Based on the standard of environment, safety, and energy efficiency, this prohibition is mainly focused on filament lamp. UAE has also carried out restriction on mercury(Hg) content included in CFL and fluorescent lamp.

Moreover, this ban has promoted UAE indoor lighting new planning schedule of adopting new LED energy saving. At the end of 2009, the largest LED project has been completed in Abu Dhabi, the capital and the largest of the seven Emirates that constitutes the United Arab Emirates. Although LED, as the most promising new source of energy, has been gradually adopted in lighting. And retrofit for traditional lamps for LED lamps replacement has been global trend force. With the advantage of energy saving and eco-green, however, it is still a long way to go for the spring of LED.
